You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Conceptualize and organize the ideal EMR experience from the point of view of the Oncology provider, provider-patient relationship, and patient/consumer expectations.
  • Design, lead and manage a process with relevant subject matter experts, to develop oncology protocols and workflows that represent top quartile care and meet or surpass national standards,
  • Integrate the protocols into the AdventHealth EMR, regularly review the protocols and update them with changes in the supporting evidence.  
  • Develop consensus among oncology providers, nurses, and ancillary staff across AdventHealth on best oncology practices and workflows and spread them across the organization.
  • Partner with the Quality and Safety team to develop measurement tools to assess outcomes and to reduce unnecessary variation in oncology practice.
  • Work closely with pharmacy leaders and team to understand oncology related workflows and opportunities for best outcomes and efficiencies of care.
  • Work with physicians, ambulatory practices, and the Clinical Documentation Improvement team to ensure efficient, compliant, complete, and accurate oncology related documentation.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle and administrative teams to ensure appropriate EMR processes for oncology practice.
  • Serve as an internal consultant on oncology related development in Epic.
  • Collaborate with Ambulatory leadership, facility C-Suite leadership, Informatics leadership, medical staff leadership and teams to successfully implement oncology related workflows and achieve oncology accreditation of AdventHealth oncology practices
  • Ensure that oncology protocols and workflows focus on the consumer, while meeting governmental and regulatory requirements. 
  • Provide support for programs designed to improve healthcare delivery that aligns with physician practice excellence, promotes appropriate resource utilization, and improves patient outcomes.
  • Create a culture that seeks to integrate physician and clinician accountabilities that are collaborative, efficient, and seamless in delivering quality patient care.

Collateral Duties:

  • Collaborate with AdventHealth Clinical and AIT leadership to facilitate the goals and objectives of AdventHealth clinical programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the AH Chief Medical Information Officer to accomplish the principal duties and responsibilities.
  • Lead system-wide efforts to improve patient safety, quality, promote cultural change, improve safety, clinical quality and EMR efficiencies, as requested by the Chief Clinical Officer or Chief Medical Officer.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a clinical discipline or bachelor’s degree and at least two years of leadership experience and demonstrated success in oncology practice.
  • Master’s degree or higher in a clinical, business, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum 10 years of oncology related work experience.

Job Summary:

The successful Director of Oncology requires strong leadership from an executive capable of engaging strategically with physicians, clinicians, and executives to build robust relationships.

The AdventHealth Oncology Director has experience and is knowledgeable about medical surgical and radiation oncology: protocols, therapeutics and operations including infusion, in both the ambulatory and inpatient environments. In addition, the Director understands and has experience with National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines and in meeting the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC) accreditation standards as well as other relevant or emerging professional and regulatory guidelines. The Director understands oncology related diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures, and clinical research protocols.

Under the direction of AdventHealth Senior Leadership, the Oncology Director will lead the development, implementation and maintenance of oncology protocols and clinical workflows in the AdventHealth EMR.  The Oncology Director will organize and lead the input of relevant subject matter experts to meet the needs of clinical and business applications.  The Director will be expected to develop and maintain workflows that achieve highest quality outcomes and value in both the ambulatory and inpatient environment and ensure that the AdventHealth oncology service lines meet applicable national quality, regulatory and accreditation standards.   

The Oncology Director will act as a liaison between physicians, oncology nurses and pharmacists, hospitals, oncology departments, oncology clinics, infusion centers, radiation oncology, oncology oversight committees, oncology research, AIT and AdventHealth Clinical to accomplish the above goals.
