You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Communicates daily with and assists physicians, physicist and department staff members to coordinate patient treatment, planning, dosimetry, equipment quality control and radiation safety.
  • Oversees that personnel are scheduled to provide adequate coverage during all hours of operation using flexible staffing when appropriate. Provides for equipment service and maintenance.
  • Assures therapeutic and diagnostic measures are safely administered as prescribed by the physician either directly or indirectly.
  • Assures patient care is monitored and appropriately documented, particularly nursing assessments, treatment, order completion, patient education, and referral for follow-up care, both in the medical records and logs.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff in-services and education.
  • Develops and assures quality assurance and performance indicators are implemented on an ongoing basis and reports submitted in a timely manner.
  • Maintains departmental records of treatment, equipment, and other documents as required by regulations and policies
  • Supervises equipment service agreements and recommends changes.
  • Meets with State and Federal Inspectors, as needed.
  • Coordinates Campus Specific Cancer Committee meetings and program development.
  • Performs special projects, other duties and chairs committees as assigned.
  • Develops referral relationships with key community physicians.  Ensures there is excellent coordination of care and communication regarding the services and interactions with providers.
  • Monitors physician issues and take action to analyze and address physician preferences.
  • Serves as a resource to the medical staff and office staff for process improvement opportunities, including development and implementation.
  • Performs supervisory duties in monitoring and documenting employee performance and annual evaluations.
  • Performs employee counseling and disciplinary action.
  • Participates in the recruitment, orientation, evaluation and termination of personnel.
  • Utilizes progressive counseling to develop or discipline employees as necessary.
  • Provides assurance that the staff adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.  
  • Responsible for the compliance with accrediting agencies including but not limited to JCAHO, ACOS-COC, ACRO, NQMBC/NAPBC and ASCO.
  • Is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures directly related to departmental services. Consults with physician, physicist and others required to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Supervises daily activities within the department and ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Performs special projects, other duties and chairs committees as assigned.
  • Develops, prepares, and allocates the annual operational and capital budgets.  Evaluates, analyzes and follows-through on the monthly financial reports, and takes action to improve cost-effective care.
  • Manages all departments in a cost-effective, efficient manner assuring that staff and physicians provide high quality care in a courteous and friendly atmosphere.
  • Monitors monthly budget status on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversees department supply stock, ordering routine items as needed.
  • Oversees reviews of departmental invoices, as needed.
  • Oversees coverage with staff as needed.
  • Actively participates in the marketing of the service line and interacts with the Marketing Department as appropriate to ensure appropriate visibility of the program.
  • Assists and contributes in the formulation of strategy for programmatic growth and service delivery within the Cancer Program; supports action plan(s) for executing strategy.
  • Participates in voluntary community activities.
  • Performs Physician office visits by themselves and with Marketing support.
  • Works to engage community support and common vision for role of support groups in oncology care.


Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare required and a minimum of five years of oncology experience, with demonstrated 3-year management experience.
  • CPR required.
  • Driver’s license required

 

Job Summary:

The Director Oncology Operations is responsible for the on-site management and supervision of oncology operations. To include but not limited to, Radiation Oncology, Radiation Nursing, Radiation Business Office, process improvement for Radiation and Clinics where applicable. Program accreditation coordination, planning and execution. System and technology reviews along with fiscal responsibility for both cost containment and revenue expansion. Collaborates on regionally assigned area as subject matter expert.
