JOB SUMMARY:

Direction of the day-to-day functions summarized herein in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations, guidelines and standards that govern AdventHealth in keeping with the stated mission of the hospital.  As a member of the Leadership team, the Director of Finance participates in formulating policy and in devising procedures essential to the achievement of objectives as well as developing and implementing organization plans.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 SERVICE
  • Responsible for Assisting the VP Finance with organization and management of assigned departments, administration and program development of the Tampa Market General Accounting Office.
  • Functionally operates as Controller for at least two hospitals in the Tampa Market; works directly with CFOs and Finance Teams for those hospitals.
  • Manages and evaluates established programs and policies of the Tampa Market General Accounting Office.
  • Oversees preparation and files Medicare, Medicaid, and AHCA prior year cost reports annually on a timely basis.
  • Supervises preparation of monthly contractual templates for all hospitals in the Tampa Market and reviews for accuracy and timeliness.
 
PEOPLE
  • Participates in monthly financial close meetings.
  • Collaborates with finance team in designing and implementing plans, policies, procedures that provide for a sufficient number of appropriately qualified staff and other department members to care for the needs of the hospitals in the Tampa Market.
  • Demonstrates administrative proficiency and expertise in his/her profession and mission of the hospital.
  • Develops, implements, and assists managers/directors in utilizing systems to ensure departments function within budgeted guidelines.
  • Performs delegated functions in compliance with hospital and department policies.
  • Utilizes self appropriately as liaison between medical staff, governing body, hospital staff, corporation and community served by the hospitals.
  • Maintains awareness of current developments and trends in the provision of health care services within the healthcare environment and incorporates these trends into operational policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Interviews, hires, evaluates and disciplines department staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assists the AVP/Controller with plans for department long and short term achievements using effective time management skills, prioritizing skills.


FINANCE

  • Assists the VP Finance in adhering to improving financial performance of the Tampa Market.
  • Analyzes Net Revenue Calculations and assists VP Finance and CFOs with explaining variances.
  • Collaborates with physician enterprise and the CBO to improve the revenue cycle.
  • Manages the resources of the department to meet budgetary guidelines.
OUTCOMES
  • Gathers information, completes and files all revenue related audit requests, compliance questionnaires, government reports and surveys within scope of responsibility.
  • Develops, implements, reviews and revises department policies and procedures in accordance with applicable law and regulation.
  • Maintains qualify control programs as appropriate.
  • Ensures that audit results for cost reports are within acceptable ranges.
  • Ensures that revenue audit findings are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that financial statement audits result in no unexpected adjustments to allowances for Accounts Receivable.
GROWTH/LEADERSHIP
  • Works collaboratively with other managers and directors to ensure that one level of accuracy and completeness is provided throughout the Tampa Market.
  • Collaborates on recommendations regarding strategic planning and priorities.
  • Participates in allocating resources needed by supporting departments.
  • Attends Revenue Cycle Meetings.


Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1.Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate with all hospital contacts. 

2. Effectively communicates with all age groups, populations and individuals inside and outside the facility.

3.Must possess basic typing skills, computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology and report writing.

4. Must be self-motivated.

5. Must manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments.

6. Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.

7. Must be well-organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Master’s Degree preferred; Business Administration or Health Administration
5+ years’ experience in financial activities/responsibilities
