Work Hours/Shift:

Per Diem, Day Shift

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Responsible for relaying accurate information to physician practices, patients, visitors and staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining a welcoming environment in the Heart Center waiting areas.
  • Display excellent communication skills – facilitate communication between visitors and health care staff.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the Heart Center registration area to insure department standards are met.
  • Secures all signatures necessary for treatments, release of medical information, and assignment of insurance benefits and payment of services from legally responsible patients.
  • Work closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments in effort to maintain teamwork approach.
  • Excel in all functions performed by patient representatives.
  • Assume responsibilities to insure adequate staffing and problem-solving.
  • Register all patient types.
  • Assists in resolving patient concerns.
  • Maintains effectiveness of patient flow.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA laws and regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:


  • Communication – communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
  • Customer orientation – establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by constantly meeting and exceeding expectations.
  • Interpersonal skills – able to work effectively with other employees, patients and external parties.
  • PC skills – demonstrates proficiency in PC applications as required.
  • Policies & Procedures – demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems preferred.
  • Basic skills – able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately preferred.


  • High School diploma/equivalent
  • Some college preferred.

Job Summary:

The Heart Center Patient Access position acts as patient advocate, proactively greeting visitors upon arrival. And serves as the initial point of contact for physician practices for purpose of coordinating scheduling of tests and procedures. This position projects a positive and helpful demeanor while working with patients, visitors and staff. Serves as an escort for patients, family members, and visitors
