Lactation Consultant

Texas Health Mansfield- operated as joint venture between Texas Health Resources and AdventHealth

Location: 2300 Lone Star Road; Mansfield, TX

PRN Evenings

You Will Be Responsible For:

•    Assess, reassess, develops, implements, and evaluates a plan of care, as a member of the multidisciplinary care team, in conjunction with the patient and patient’s family.  The lactation consultant will:

•    Obtain and document an appropriate history of the breastfeeding mother and child. 

•    Systemically collect objective and subjective information, including but not limited to physical appearance and health status of mother and baby.

•    Assessment information will be discussed with the mother, documented in the medical record, and communicated to the primary health care provider as appropriate. 


What You Will Need:

•    Associate Degree in Nursing.

•    Skill in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for the breastfeeding mother and baby acquired through 1-2 years of experience as a lactation consultant.

•    Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.

•    Certification through the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

•    Achieves and maintains NRP certification within first year of employment.


Job Summary: The lactation consultant focuses on helping breastfeeding women and families define and achieve their breastfeeding goals.  The lactation consultant will act as a member of the interdisciplinary team to obtain optimal clinical outcomes.  The lactation consultant will adhere to the goals, philosophy, standards, and guidelines of Texas Health Mansfield.
