You Will Be Responsible For:

Reports daily to the Director regarding the status of work in progress.

Monitors departmental personnel matters and makes recommendations, such as selection, training, promotion, discipline and termination.  Supervises scheduling of department personnel.  Directs the grievances of employees to the Director for final disposition.

Participates in the development and applications of standards of quality and productivity for the Environmental Services Department.  Supervises and directs EVS Department personnel in the use of policies, procedures and standards of work necessary to maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive and orderly condition.

Administers and supervises the maintenance program to ensure the highest level of cleanliness with the staff has been provided.

Works closely with other departments and administration.  Negotiates priorities, plans work schedules, makes job assignments, supervises the ordering of materials, supplies and parts.  

Provides equipment and supplies and ensures that cleaning agents/environmental chemicals meet required standards to effect maximum cleanliness and sanitation. 

Develops and participates in the orientation of new employees and the continuing education of department employees with regard to safety techniques, personal protective equipment and departmental policy.

Maintains departmental stock levels of cleaning chemicals within budgetary constraints.

Provides input to the Director of projected costs and budget requirements, and personnel needs.

Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements in regard to medical waste disposal. 

Works closely with the Safety officer to ensure all fire and safety measures throughout the hospital are adhered to, including fire and safety inspections

Participates in performance improvement and information management activities.

Demonstrates knowledge and is able to identify each patient’s age-specific needs to promote a safe environment needed by the patient group.

Maintains compliance with JCAHO, federal, state and local regulations.    


What You Will Need:


High School Diploma, one year certificate from college or technical school

OR 2 to 3 years of related experience and/or training

OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Summary:

Manage the Environmental Services Department, providing leadership and mentoring of EVS staff members to develop them to the AdventHealth standard.  Develop a relationship of trust with the hospital management and leaders so that you can best keep your fingers on the pulse of the needs of the facility and develop customer perspectives of your department performance.
