You Will Be Responsible For:

Privacy Program Functions and Activities

  • Provide support in reviewing and managing system-wide policies and procedures related to privacy program activities.
  • Provide support in developing and managing internal workflow processes and standard operating procedures (SOP) relating to privacy program activities for the Corporate Responsibility team to leverage as a resource.
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing the privacy patient inbox queue for response and review.
  • Responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of systemwide privacy monitoring and auditing (M&A) activities.
  • Responsible for assisting with developing privacy and education audits to support the Corporate Responsibility program efforts.
  • Support and assistance with communicating the M&A expectations and standards to the Regional Corporate Responsibility Officers (RCROs) to ensure consistent and high-quality privacy audit activities.
  • Responsible for evaluating audit activities, providing feedback, and assisting in assessing institutional risk of privacy related matters.
  • Responsible for reviewing and analyzing all audit findings and data from the M&A functions of privacy and providing concise, clear, and informative results and reports to regional and corporate leadership.
  • Perform high-risk or as-needed monitoring and auditing on behalf of the organization specific to privacy.
  • Monitor key regulatory changes and/or activities impacting health care to inform M&A activities specific to privacy.
  • Responsibility of managing, documenting, and responding to privacy and security risk assessments in support of the organizational initiatives and programs (e.g., HITRUST, Third-Party Risk Assessment programs, etc.).
  • As necessary, assist as a liaison and coordinator to the Information Security team in support of privacy activities that intersects with information security activities.
  • Responsible for performing, managing, and executing other duties as assigned.

Privacy Investigations

  • As directed by the Executive Director, perform low to moderate-risk investigations in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Conduct data analysis and interviews to inform the investigative process.
  • Perform a detailed analysis of investigative findings and summarize these findings in an investigative report.
  • Support regional and corporate investigative efforts by being a subject matter expert.
  • Support in creating and establishing investigative standards and procedures to support investigation efforts across the organization.
  • Assists the Executive Director, Legal, Information Security, Human Resources department, Risk Management department, and other appropriate persons and offices to implement corrective action to mitigate effects of inappropriate behavior and activities and documents such actions.

Corporate Responsibility Education Program

  • Support with develop, design, and administer Corporate Responsibility training for annual and on-going educational efforts deployed systemwide.
  • Support for serving as the lead administrator for the Corporate Responsibility department in coordination with the corporate Learning Management team relating to compliance and privacy educational efforts.
  • Responsible for standardizing, managing, tracking, and distributing training reports to regional and corporate leadership. 
  • Assisting with facilitating education and training for corporate employees, volunteers, interns, and other appropriate groups, as necessary.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Minimum five years health care privacy experience.
  • Certification in Health Care Privacy or certification obtained within first year.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong working knowledge of computers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare privacy laws and regulations to include the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act and other state and federal privacy laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to assess, analyze, interpret, and report data, metrics, and trends.
  • Ability to conduct and supervise audits and investigations and document findings.
  • Ability to evaluate audit and investigation findings to determine compliance with policy and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively handle patient concerns.
  • Basic knowledge of Learning Management Software (LMS) systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Basic database management and administration.
  • Organizational and planning skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Job Summary:

The Manager of Corporate Responsibility, Privacy and Education, supports the Executive Director of Privacy and Education with general administration and management of the systemwide privacy program and education activities that support the organizational Corporate Responsibility (CR) Program. As part of the Corporate Responsibility team, the Manager will be responsible for assisting with reviewing, analyzing, monitoring, and auditing various privacy related activities systemwide to support regional and corporate efforts utilizing a risk-based and regulatory approach. The Manager will administer the organization’s proactive monitoring solutions, including serving as a resource to perform investigation activities, as needed.

In addition to the privacy functions of the program, the Manager will be responsible for assisting with administering, developing, designing, reviewing, training, reporting, and managing the Corporate Responsibility education program as directed.
