You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Accountable for day-to-day functions of all areas of registration, ensuring all patient accounts are created in a timely manner with appropriate follow up for account completion and professional up-front collections in all registration areas.  Identifies problems proactively for expedited resolution. 
  • Ensures team success in meeting and exceeding stated monthly campus collection goals to protect financial standing of Florida Hospital, by holding staff accountable for individual goals set by management and department.  Provides encouragement, education, and training to motivate team members in collections. 
  • Reviews and communicates all collection reports timely, as assigned by leadership.  May perform cashiering functions and other duties as required in support of the pre-established legal and financial guidelines of Florida Hospital.
  • Consistently ensures team members understand the importance of clear and thorough financial and insurance assessments, as well as accurate demographic information in order to maintain a close working relationship with clinical partners and provide patients with excellent service.
  •  Accountable for continual open communication between clinical, ancillary, Patient Access, and Patient Financial Services departments, aiding in proper discharge planning.
  • Provides team members with tools and training needed to assist in meeting accuracy standard goals, minimize department registration errors, rejections, and avoidable denials. 
  • Oversees new hire training to successfully meeting 90-day productivity standards. Provides succession planning and encouragement to team members in order promote positive career growth within PA/PFS and Florida Hospital.
  • Assists in meeting monthly budget and staffing goals by scheduling staff levels to meet registration area volumes, while providing continual coverage (24-hour coverage in Emergency Department) in order to offer prompt patient service and be available for all clinical partners registration needs. 
  • Specifically takes responsibility for patient satisfaction and employee engagement scores, meeting goals set by Florida Hospital and PA/PFS department. Promotes an atmosphere of open communication for staff at all times.  Greets all customers (patients, guests, families, staff, physicians, vendors, etc.) and team members in a helpful and courteous manner while extending exemplary customer service. 
  • Presents written and verbal directions to employees to ensure well-informed status in performance of their job requirements as indicated, and provides feedback for employee performance evaluations while adhering to Florida Hospital & JCAHO evaluation guidelines. Identifies problems proactively to expedite resolution, offering training whenever needed. 
  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations by verifying pertinent information to determine caller or visitor authorization level before releasing account information

Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Proficient in time management with superior prioritization skills.
  •  Role requires self-motivator and quick thinker who is proactive and results oriented. 
  • Responsive to ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and acts accordingly.  Uses discretion when discussing personnel/patient-related issues that are confidential in nature.
  •  Typing skills equal to 35 words per minute or greater net. 
  • Strong competence in Excel, Powerpoint, and Word, with typing skills equal to departmental standard or greater.  Proficient in performance of basic math functions and communicates professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Three years’ experience in Patient Access/Patient Financial Services Department or related area (registration, finance, collections, customer service, medical office, contract management) and at least six months’ team lead or supervisory experience.
  • Minimum two years’ college degree (business, healthcare or health services administration, health information management, communications, finance, accounting, public administration, human resources, management, or marketing) with two or more years in Patient Access/Patient Financial Services department or related area as defined above preferred.
