Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time 

You will be responsible for:

Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in:

  • Standard work parameters
  • Operational programs
  • Delivery and compounding systems

Maintains operational expertise in and actively provides coverage of the technician services provided by

Oversees appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems

  • Accurately interprets electronic records
  • Maintains expertise in Cerner processes
  • Manages proper and complete patient profile record

Accurately oversees the management of medication inventories and the preparation and delivery of patient‐specific medication doses

  • Manages medication delivery activities
  • Prepares accurate medication products for delivery
  • Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking products
  • Performs oral and injectable product compounding

Supervises technician and intern practice

  • Maintains appreciation for and competency to perform technician duties and roles as needed
  • Prioritizes work load, organizes work flow, and checks accuracy of pharmacy technician activities
  • Intervenes as needed to optimize the patient-centered pharmacy services provided in/by practice area
  • Maintains competent, skilled, and cooperative staff by coordinating training for new employees, coaching and mentoring of all employees, and routine professional development for all staff
  • Assist with recruitment, interview, and hiring processes for staff in assigned areas
Qualifications

What you will need:

  • Two years of contemporary hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician license.
  • Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) or from the National Heathcareer Association (NHA)
  • If applicable to facility, Sterile Compounding Certification

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor has primary responsibility for the pharmacy automation systems, technician scheduling, technician PDO/sick coverage and technician assignments. Other facility specific assignments may include patient billing and inventory management activities.  If applicable for the facility, information systems must be accessed for pharmacy charge data, AHS CDM databases, wholesaler, purchase files, automated dispensing systems, pharmaceutical contracts and data files.
