You Will Be Responsible For:
- Aseptically prepares, compounds, and dispenses intravenous medications in compliance with USP797 regulations.
- Understands all resources available to research drug information.
- Maintain clean and safe operation of laminar flow hood, work area and pharmacy equipment to adhere to JCAHO and ASHP standards.
- Assists the pharmacist in providing medication, drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel.
- Ensures compliance with accreditation, quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements.
- Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and CQI activities.
- Loads medications into appropriate Pyxis station upon receipt of order for new medication(s) not currently stocked in said Pyxis.
- Demonstrates ability to perform appropriate calculations for proper preparation of medications for all patient populations.
- Recognizes inappropriate dosing based on available dosage forms for various age groups and obtains clarification from pharmacist if dose does not seem appropriate.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.
- Performs other pharmacy related duties as requested or required.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
- High School diploma or the equivalent.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Status.
- North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration required within 3 months of hire.
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, fills physician orders for medications; prepares IV admixture solutions, using proper aseptic technique; maintains accurate records for all medication compounding; properly labels and prepares medications for dispensing.
