You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Coordinates with the Director of Cardiovascular Services Procedural to meet the needs of Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab
  • Responsible for supplies and equipment related to Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab including ordering and evaluation of products necessary to maintain and grow the service line
  • Directly responsible for working with the physicians including the Cardiologists and Pulmonologists to ensure physician satisfaction, patient experience and lean production within Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab
  • Responsible for organizing, staffing, supervisory and evaluating the daily operation of the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Department. Includes processing timesheet correction forms and staffing schedules.
  • Acts as a preceptor and role model of employees
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes
  • Participates in meetings for efficient facility function including but not limited to quality, patient safety, patient experience, safety huddles, productivity, and budgetary.
  • Focuses on maintain budgetary guidelines.
  • Participates in all aspects of acquiring and maintaining accreditations and certifications including ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation and Heart Failure Accreditation.
  • Collaborates with staff and director on process improvement projects.
  • Participates in the staff evaluation process.
  • Keeps the patient flow and workflow maintained, and has great interdepartmental skills
  • Able to perform head to toe assessments on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
  • Able to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan at each visit.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medications, treatments and their correct administration based on the age of the patient, infants through the geriatric population, and their clinical condition.
  • Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring.  Identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient including infant, pediatric, geriatric and the general population.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of cardiac disease/procedure/surgery: MI, CABG, coronary stenting, angioplasty etc.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of pulmonary disease entities:  COPD, adult and pediatric asthma, cystic fibrosis, etc.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of cardiac stress testing:  treadmill, chemical stress test, nuclear stress test, echocardiogram
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of various pulmonary testing/procedures;  pulmonary function testing, peak flows, breathing treatments, etc.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of pain assessment and management policies and procedures.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medication/healthcare errors.
  • Educates patients and families about cardiopulmonary risk factors, how to promote a healthy way of living.
  • Treats all patients and families with respect and dignity.
  • Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
  • Communicate appropriately and clearly to , director, co-workers and physicians,
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Qualifications
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Basic Computer Knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
  • EKG
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Organizational skills, ability to prioritize.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • RN degree from an accredited school.
  • Two or more years of Acute Cardiac care nursing experience.
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • 2-4 years relevant clinical charge nurse experience
    • BSN and/or MSN
 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Current State of Florida RN license
  • ACLS and BLS
 
Job Summary:

Designs and implements Cardio Rehab treatment programs.  Supervises and delegates appropriately to other Rehab Team members assisting with Cardio Pulmonary Rehab. Assists with departmental operations as directed by the Director or designate.  Communicates effectively with and consistently provides excellent customer service to physicians.  Assists in coordinating interdisciplinary communication.  Provides direct patient care in the Cardio Pulmonary Department.  Monitors patients during procedures/exercises for the detection of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities; Maintains the preventative and restorative health needs for the patients.  Provides patient education on disease entities; participates in performance improvement and Kaizen events.  This position description is intended to describe the general nature and work responsibilities of the position.
