Facilitates GN Program-develop and teach curriculum, collaborate with preceptors and NLs, evaluate progress

Designs/Reviews health information and patient education appropriate to the patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness to learn, and cultural values and beliefs.

Provides education to individual, families, groups and communities to promote knowledge, understanding and optimal functioning across the wellness-illness continuum.

Addresses the professional educational needs of nurses and other healthcare providers by:

Completes a needs assessment as appropriate to guide interventions with staff.

Develops and implements staff development and continuing education activities.

Contributes to the advancement of the profession as a whole by presenting at professional meetings and disseminating outcomes of CS practice.

Provides leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation and implementation of process improvement initiatives.

Uses quality monitoring data to assess the quality and effectiveness of clinical programs in meeting outcomes.

    • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

      • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related specialty area
      • 5 or more years of nursing practice experience with a minimum of 3 years in Emergency Department
      • Minimum of one year of practice in which leadership and teaching compentencies have been demonstrated


Job Summary:

The Clinical Educator, Emergency Department integrates education, leadership, and teaching to improve patient care and develop nursing practice through promoting competence and adoption of evidence-based practice standards through orientation, skills validation and ongoing education and evaluation.  The ED Educator serves as a mentor and leader, provides expertise in the development of educational offerings and implementation of educational programs.  Involved in specialty organizations that promote use of current knowledge and skills in the provision of patient care.
