Work Hours/Shift:
  • Full Time Days
  • Schedule, update and provide and/or support General Nursing/Clinical Orientation Program for new clinical staff every month, including FHFM patient care related to P & P, clinical routines, and essential equipment.
  • Provide communication to staff with regard to educational offerings or other planned programs via email, rounding, flyers, and other methods of communication.
  • Perform as clinical resource to nursing, clinical and other staff regarding policies and procedures and refers to the appropriate “expert” when learning need is outside of professional expertise or scope.
  • Review voice mail and email, log in education requests in the request log.  Responds appropriately to Educational requests in the order of priority and with appropriate education.
  • Participate in making rounds on assigned nursing units to provide clinical support to current nursing staff as well as new employees and maintains frequent communication with unit managers.
  • Attend scheduled committee meetings to represent the Education Department and provide educational expertise on assigned committees.
  • Develop, coordinate and/or support the Graduate Nurse Development/Residency program as well as supporting and coordinating cross-training and clinical transition programs.
  • Counsel individual employees to achieve professional growth in their careers in line with clinical ladder requirements.
  • Attend educational programs to update knowledge and technical skills in clinical and instructional areas and maintain membership in professional clinical organizations.
Utilizes multimodal approach to education including videos, lecture, charts, skills lab, simulation, teach-back, and nursing supplies and equipment to demonstrate improved methods of patient care.  Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein and as assigned
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical practice in varied areas and levels specific to area of expertise.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical education/staff development or equivalent experience required with instructional design, development and evaluation of learning experiences, and curriculum development.
  • Current Florida Registered Nursing License required.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
 

Job Summary:

The Clinical Educator functions as an interdisciplinary clinical educator, presenter, clinical resource, mentor, and researcher.  Is involved in creating and providing a variety of adult-appropriate education programs and resources including computer-based education, orientation, educational in-services and training programs. Provides appropriate education in response to identified clinical deficits with individualized and appropriate learning and teaching strategies. Provides skilled formative and summative evaluation regarding student progress utilizing appropriate measures and provides remediation as necessary.
