Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time Days

You will be responsible for:

  • Correct utilization of Pyxis system for medications and supplies.
  • Deliver safe and efficient hands-on patient care in compliance with Florida statutes and JCAHO and hospital standards.
  • Responsible for initial patient assessment, identifying opportunities for patient/family teaching and appropriate discharge instructions upon completion of treatment.
  • Appropriately and thoroughly documents patient care plan from consultation through discharge according to departmental policy.
  • Elevate patient care to Oncology Nurse Society recommended standards while maintaining or exceeding JCAHO and hospital standards.
  • Collaborate with department management to smoothly transition paperwork based documentation system to EMR, by implementing Oncology Nursing Standards for documentation and maintaining JCAHO and hospital standards.
  • Provides peer-to-peer clinical review to obtain authorizations
  • Responsible for cross-training to assist with nursing coverage in Women’s Imaging and other Oncology cost centers.
  • Participates on committees and in QI initiatives per departmental organizational and or CoC requirements
  • Contributes to a positive working environment by demonstrating a supportive learning attitude, exhibiting flexibility, open to change, and sensitive to department and hospital wide needs.
  • Effectively participates in conflict resolution and or problem solving
  • Implements nursing interventions per patient communication and or physician orders
  • Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals
  • Identifies patient cultural and or spiritual needs and takes a proactive approach to meet them
  • Integrates age-specific standards when planning care as evidenced by:
    • Assessment and interventions appropriate for age group
    • Communicates with patient/parent/guardian regarding plan of care based on assessed level of comprehension, understanding and readiness to learn
    • Performs procedures utilizing approached and equipment appropriate to patients age and size
    • Provides patient/parent education based on assessed education level, barriers to learning and learning preferences
Qualifications

What you will need:

 
  • Ability to learn and use Radiation Therapy software packages such as ARIA
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain responsibility for all FHT continuing and Annual education.
  • Provides symptom management of XRT patients and direct all information to Radiation Oncologist.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience a Registered Nurse
  • Current license of Registered Nurse in Florida or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement.

  • Valid BLS

  • ACLS, NRP, PALS as defined in unit specific competencies
