Work Hours/Shift:
PRN Variable Shift


You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Registers all patients that present for outpatient, emergency treatment and admission with a 95% accuracy rate.
  • Accurately changes patient type on all patient accounts the date the patient presents for service.
  • Verifies all patient demographic information. Scans insurance   cards and patient photo identification.
  • Accurately verifies patient insurance information and assigns the proper insurance plan and financial class in HIS.
  • Promptly and accurately admits patients to STAR.
  • Works case management status change QUE promptly for corrections in status and places in insurance QUE for authorization follow up.
  • Verifies that physician orders are state admit as inpatient or place in observation and have appropriate signature.
  • Verifies that all required authorizations is obtained and accurate prior to registering patient.
  • Calculates patient estimated due and collects copays, coinsurance and deductibles at time of service following hospital policies and procedures.
  • Properly documents account notes in HIS to reflect POS action taken.
  • Provides quick and efficient patient registration to improve customer satisfaction and avoid delay to other departments.
  • Consistently use the WOW to complete bedside registration, discharges and admits
  • Completes Medicare MSP questionnaire as required by law accurately on all Medicare patients.
  • Promptly contacts supervisor and/or management with any issues relating to patient registration.
  • Promptly reviews and works required QUES.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need:


  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of office experience in a medical setting is required. 
  • Familiarity with software packages and navigation techniques.
  • Must be able to work under high stress volumes, multi task, detail oriented and works independently.
  • One year of insurance and authorization experience in relation to hospital and advanced imaging procedures.
Job Summary:

Primary responsibility register patients who present for outpatient testing, emergency treatment and admission in a professional and courteous manner to include insurance verification includes but not limited to, initiating authorizations on all hospital outpatient/inpatient admissions/observation stays. Gathers patient demographic and billing information and enters into the computer accurately. Performs all patient contact pertaining to the collection on patient accounts. Provides financial assistance to patients following the hospital policy. Calculation and collection of patient financial responsibility.
