Work Hours/Shift:
You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Prepares associates work schedule to ensure appropriate staffing is provided,
  • Facilitate any issues that may arise during shift report to ensure all information is communicated appropriately.
  • Supports departmental and organizational change,
  • Assists in the material management process to ensure appropriate products are being used which this includes meeting with our vendors
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring associates.
  • Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action,
  • Responds to emergency situations immediately, performs appropriate patient assessment and intervention and replaces emergency supplies in a timely manner,
  • Maintains hospital and departmental competency documentation in all required areas,
  • Performs respiratory care procedures according to physician orders, department policy/procedure, and patient care plan,
  • Follows the “Standard of Behaviors” guidelines according to hospital policy,
  • Make sure all facilitators are being consistent when making decisions about staffing,
  • Assist in finding solutions to problems that staff brings to your attention,
  • Assist the Director in Process Improvement initiatives in the department to help improve our services
  • Rotates management call,
  • Assist in the disciplinary counseling,
  • Assist in the AAR process.
  • Assist in Rounding of associates/patients to ensure their needs are being met and policies/procedures are being followed
  • Performs thorough patient assessment and takes appropriate action when necessary,
  • Performs and documents patient education as ordered by physician or as needed,
  • Creates and performs respiratory educational opportunities for staff and other disciplines as needed
  • Obtains, assists with, and seeks respiratory care educational /informational opportunities,
  • Assist Pulmonary Coordinator in setting up in-services to help the staff learn and grow in their profession,
  • Seek ways of identifying opportunities to improve our communication with other disciplines with the assistance of the staff,
  • Attends and participates in in-services, department meetings and committees,
  • Assist in the staff’s development process so everyone feels they are contributing equally.
  • Uses hospital equipment, supplies, and resources responsibly, and maintains organized workflow,
  • Follows procedures for correct billing/documentation of services provided,
  • Assist in making sure Worked Hrs/UOS and Supplies/UOS are within budget,
  • Assist Director in looking for ways to be cost effective,
  • Give direction to staff to make sure they are using their time wisely

  • Associate’s Degree or Graduate of a Technical School required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Up to 1 Year of Experience required
  • 2 years clinical experience for new grads acceptable in lieu of 1 year of work experience
  • Kansas Respiratory Therapist License
  • BLS through American Heart Association
  • NRP if working in NICU
  • STABLE preferred
  • ACLS through American Heart Association preferred
Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist Team Leader provides direct respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital as outlined in Pulmonary Services procedure manual. Is knowledgeable in providing and evaluating the routine as well as critical care modes of respiratory care. Responsible for the effective and optimal administration of modalities based upon assessment and evaluation. Provides recommendations and/or changes to care based on patients current status.  Responsible for facilitating in the day to day clinical operations centered on staffing, problem resolution, monitoring processes and promoting effective communication to all disciplines.
