You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Provides leadership, mentors, and supervises hospital security officers developing their professional skill sets
  • Responsible for the appropriate execution of duties for hospital security officers
  • Manages the Hospitals’ Disaster Preparedness program. 
  • Plan for and conduct a minimum of two disaster drills compliant with requirements of JCAHO. 
  • Manage the Fire Alarm Code Red Drills quarterly for each shift. 
  • Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections.
  • Serves as a member of the Fire Control Team and ensures a Security response to all codes
  • Work with appropriate hospital leadership to promote and execute education of all Hospital employees in disaster preparedness and their responsibilities in emergency codes. 
  • Ensures a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds of the Hospital.
  • Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.
  • Ensures current information in lost and found logs. 
  • Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Hospital personnel, visitors, physicians or patients and reports all incidents, verbally or through general incident form, by the end of each shift. 
  • Offers alternative solutions to Security issues and implements chosen solutions. 
  • Writes accurate, clear and legible incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.
  • Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients.
  • Patrols buildings and grounds; inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.
  • Inspects outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft of Hospital property.
  • Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors or personnel.
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop alternative solutions. 
  • Compliance with maintaining confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, visitors, and/or employees. 
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. 
  • Ability to develop budgets at the departmental level.
  • Ability to compile, review and summarize federal, state, and local laws and regulations that affect the safe and secure operations of Florida Hospital. 
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Security needs.
  • Ability operate security related software, and physical security systems including but not limited to CCTV access control, duress alarms, etc. 
  • Associates degree with course work in security, law enforcement, emergency management, or completion of an equivalent program of instruction at an accredited vocational education facility.  
  • 6 years as Law Enforcement, Corrections, Military Service or professional security services as a security officer or combination thereof. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement preferred
  • Previous verifiable experience in healthcare security setting preferred. 
  • Valid Florida Driver’s license
  • State of Florida Security D License
  • International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification (or within 90 days of employment)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certified Trainer (or within 6 months of employment)
  • NIMS Training and Certification (or within 6 months of employment)
  • Law Enforcement officer preferred
Job Summary:

Manages the Florida Hospital Zephyrhills and Florida Hospital Dade City Security Management program.  Assesses security threats to the hospital and assists in planning appropriate strategies and countermeasures.  Reviews and analyzes data and devise risk minimization programs.  Works with the Vice President of Operations and the Director of Facilities to ensure consistent Security Operations at all FHZ and FHDC Locations.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful of all.
