You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Directs and supervises all Sergeants (shift supervisors) and Security Officers.

  • Responsibilities include but not limited to performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training.

  • Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions.

  • Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities.

  • Assists in developing, recommending, and managing budgets for the areas managed.

  • Coordinates the assignment of tasks for the efficient utilization of available resources.

  • Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for positive teamwork and motivation.

  • Complies with the Employee Code of Conduct.

  • Demonstrates compliance with all federal, state and local laws; rules and government regulations

  • Verbalizes understanding of reporting process of any actual or perceived violation

  • Recognizes incidents as defined and described in the Hospital’s Institutional Policies and Procedures

  • Understands the method and reasoning for reporting incidents

  • Demonstrates ability to complete the Hospital’s Incident Report Form

  • Assists the Department Director or others in recognizing and reducing risk within the Department or other areas of the Hospital

  • Demonstrates PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in Daily Endeavors) by providing courteous service, assisting lost guests, and problem solving to meet special needs or requests

  • Performs duties in a timely manner and provides updates if delays occur

  • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external customers, in person or on the telephone

  • Maintains a professional appearance and manner and adheres to the Hospital’s dress standards

  • Helps ensure a safe environment for guests and staff

  • Respects patient privacy, confidentiality and dignity

  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in the Utility Systems Program and the department’s response to utility failure

  • Follows hospital and departmental Infection Control policies and procedures

  • Maintains a safe, orderly hospital by controlling disorderly patients, visitor traffic and motor vehicle traffic

  • Assists the Emergency Room staff in the control and restraint of violent patients

  • Assists the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department with investigations of illegal acts committed in the hospital or on the property. Report results to the Director of Safety and Security.

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and yearly statistical reports of all reported incidents and Security activities for the Director of Safety and Security.

  • Develops and maintains the coded filing system for reported incidents and Security related activities

  • Issues coded access key cards, assigns access authorization by entrances to authorization personnel, voiding key cards that have been reported lost, or who no longer have authorization to enter the restricted areas

  • Provides surveillance and protection of hospital staff, patients, visitors, and physical hospital assets

  • Provides security services for cash control of monies from the Gift Shop and other departments

  • Investigates and follows up with the Director of Safety and Security on all incidents within the hospital or property and complies the proper report

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Security or Law Enforcement

  • One (1) year experience in a health care environment

  • 2-year college degree (Criminal Justice or Security Management preferred) with similar security, police, military police, correctional officer experience preferred. 

  • Valid Florida Class E driver’s license

  • Valid Florida Class D Security license

  • Must attend AVADE certification within 4 months of hire and maintain certification per hospital policy.

  • CPR & First Aid

  • IAHSS – Basic preferred

  • IAHSS -  Advanced preferred

  • IAHSS – Supervisory preferred

Job Summary:

The Security Operations Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations and scheduling for the entire Security Department.  The individual is responsible for monitoring compliance with hospital policies procedures and following the Joint Commission Environment of Care standards. The Security Operations Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, patients, and visitors.  This position is highly visible to the public and must be executed in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
