You Will Be Responsible For:  

  • Provides management and leadership for the effective and efficient operation of the department. Collaborates with Medical Director and Clinical Nurse Manager that Assures clinical practice is of the highest quality by mentoring EMS Supervisors and high potential employees, setting clear expectations in the delivery of clinical practice and establishing and maintaining a communication plan that disseminates key messages and decisions to all involved in the care of the patient.
  • Manages staff performance and takes corrective action for improvement as appropriate. Uses independent judgement to assure diversity of staff is positively fostered in the work environment. Actively involves all groups in shared decision-making where appropriate. Ensures a “ready state” environment is maintained for State inspections.
  • Manages team with an understanding of health care economics, public policy, and finance as it pertains to the delivery of patient care. Develops, analyzes, and interprets unit-department based budgeting. Maintains staffing and scheduling and resource utilization within budgeted targets for the department.

  • Manages strategic EMS planning on an annual basis, making necessary changes and adjustments throughout the year to meet new or changing priorities; includes concentrated focus on EMS team duties and outcomes.
  • Champions performance improvement activities through problem identification, assessment, data gathering, change implementation, and evaluation of outcomes to continually improve quality standards and initiatives for the department. Is actively involved in all aspects of patient safety in the department including but not limited to sentinel event monitoring and reporting, Conducts Root Cause Analysis, DNV requirements, incident reporting, medication safety policies/procedures, and assures workplace safety for employees.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in the performance of their duties. Demonstrates an understanding of technology used in the organization by employing strong problem solving, critical thinking skills. Appropriately integrates and leverages technology to improve patient care outcomes.

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to emergency services including Florida Administrative Codes that pertain to EMS Licensing.
  • Prepares and submits various reports as required by local, state and federal governments; oversees filing and maintenance of reports, records, licenses, certificate of public convenience and necessity (COPCN), and other documents as required by federal, state and local laws and regulations.


Manages performance of all staff and takes corrective action for improvement as appropriate. Uses independent judgement to:

  • Manages all aspects of the team including selection of applications, orientation, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Suspend or invoke other discipline for work infractions, performance deficiencies and conduct violations by exercising supervisory authority.
  • Evaluates supervised employees, recommends promotion of supervised employees, and recommends bonuses and awarding of other discretionary rewards to supervised employees.
  • In collaboration with the Human Resources Department, terminates supervised employees, where appropriate.
  • Manages employee assignment of duties and activities and authorizes overtime to employees where appropriate.
  • Manages resolution of complaints, concerns, and problems of supervised employees regarding work assignments, hours of work overtime scheduling, and other work-related matters.
  • Assures diversity of staff is positively fostered in the work environment.  Actively involves all groups in shared decision-making where appropriate.
  • Uses skill in effective conflict management and can reach a common goal and resolve conflicts
  • Creates a work environment that addresses the physical and emotional needs of the staff and one that is conducive to retention of the staff.


  • Bachelor’s degree healthcare, business, clinical science or Industrial/Systems Engineering upon hire or within 36 months of hire/promotion with 5 years of patient transport experience or Nine (9) years patient transport experience. 
  • Two (2) years management experience

  • Valid BLS Certification
  • Valid Class D or Class E Florida Driver’s License and driving record in accordance with Advent Health Hospital
Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager EMS Operations is a registered EMT or Paramedic and manages the day to day operations, productivity, stewardship, and patient satisfaction of EMS team. The role will manage multiple EMS Supervisors along with the EMS team members. Management responsibilities include hiring, coaching, progressive discipline including termination. The Sr. Manager EMS is able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, creativity, and has the knowledge to manage resources to achieve quality performance, positive employee relations, and compliance with EMS guidelines. The Sr. Manager EMS is skilled in coaching, motivating, mentoring, and leading a professional and technical team in the delivery of services for our patient population. Oversees the EMS Quality Control Fleet Manager and utilization of resources.  Is responsible for the growth and development of EMS team members. Utilizes critical thinking skills, creativity, and knowledge to manage resources to achieve quality performance, positive employee relations and compliance with hospital guidelines. Acts as a change agent and is responsible for implementing any changes that the department is required to undergo. Ensures transports are performed in a timely, efficient and safe manner. Represents the departments at hospital committee, department, State and professional meetings. Works closely with the Medical Director and Clinical Nurse Manager for medical direction of the team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
