The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for the complete, timely and accurate assignment of ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT procedure codes for all Outpatient accounts as required. These include emergency room, same day surgery, outpatient, outpatient in a bed, wound care and recurring accounts. Timely coding is in support of the weekly and monthly billing cycles for the Southwest Region
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Assign accurate ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes to all Outpatient accounts
Ensure ethical coding practices are followed
Assign the appropriate modifiers to all charges and CPT procedure codes as required
Query physicians as necessary for additional documentation to support accurate coding
Maintain productivity standards set by the HIM department
Complete coding within 2 days of discharge to support weekly and end of month billing cycles
Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rating
Utilize computer assisted coding software 80% of coding time
Complete all CPA/Revenue Cycle work items within 48 hours of receipt
Assume responsibility for professional development by keeping current with all ICD-10 and CPT coding guideline rules and regulations (ICD-10 CM Official Coding Guideline for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic)
Complete all required AHS webinars within assigned time frame
Other duties as assigned or requested
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications :
Completion of an accredited coding curriculum
Experience in assigning ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT procedure codes
CCA or CPC or CCS or RHIT or RHIA
