The role you’ll contribute:

The Painter maintains and operates all equipment in the paint shop. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, lacquer, etc., to decorate and protect interior and exterior hospital surfaces. Smooth surfaces, fill nail holes, cracks and joints. Selects premixed paint or blends and mixes paints. Protects work area. Has a thorough knowledge of all types of paints but not limited to: latex, oil based, automotive, epoxy, etc. Know how to select proper paint for particular surface to be painted. Demonstrates skill in installing and finishing sheetrock; assumes minor carpentry duties such as cove base, corner guards and metal studs. Is skilled in installation and maintenance of wall coverings, including Mayatex, Acoustarib and Acoustatrack. Shows interest and skills or is willing to train in the application of Faux Finishes such as woodgraining, marbelizing and Fantasy Finishes. Maintains safety standards in regard to work activities. Communicates with manager and team regarding progress of work and activities. Maintains understanding of JCAHO regulations & provides support in meeting the requirements. Participates in Quality Improvement Program.

  • Follow safety procedures during spraying.

  • Uses drop cloths for proper protection of floors and furniture.

  • Protects areas not to be painted.

  • Prepares surfaces by taping, sanding or cleaning.

  • Applies Faux Finishes.

  • Measure, cut and install sheetrock.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Work orders are routed to appropriate craft/shop for follow-up and completion.

  • Blends or mixes paint if not premixed and applies with brush, roller or spray gun.

  • Mixes and matches colors and produces professional finishes.

  • Uses wiping, brushing or spraying to apply stain to produce professional finishes.

  • Sand in preparation for paint or vinyl.

  • Knows uses and types of thinners and when to apply them.

  • Uses different types of plaster, putty and caulking for filling cracks and voids on surfaces.

  • Uses stencils to do sign painting and fixtures.

  • Is able to refinish furniture and fixtures.

  • Work order documentation is maintained current within 24 hrs of work performed.

  • Work order documentation is maintained accurate with correct equipment and account codes.

  • PM schedules are consistently met (when applicable)

  • Cleans brushes, rollers and properly stores them.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Associate’s Degree or Graduate of a Technical School

  • 2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • 5+ Years of Position-Related Experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Valid Driver’s License
