Job Description:

• Prepares sterile dressings and clean instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy. Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Obtains scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Interpersonal Skills [Required]• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up [Required]• Knowledge of sterilization techniques [Required]• Laser skills/training [Required]• Able to precept and act as resource person and preceptor in multiple surgical specialties [Preferred]

• Associate [Preferred]

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

• Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Field of Study:

• N/A

Work Experience:

• 1+ years of experience as certified surgical tech [Preferred]

• Proficient in a minimum of 3 major surgical specialties [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) [Required] 

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR

• Technician in Surgery – Certified (NTSC) [Required]
