Job Description:

AHMG Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology

2501 N. Orange Ave., Suite 310, Orlando, FL 32804

Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm

*Will float to practices in Lake Mary, Daytona, Melbourne, Winter Garden, Celebration and Tavares as needed

** $5k sign on bonus

  • Follows accredited laboratory protocol for obtaining echocardiograms utilizing two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where appropriate. 
  • Escorts patients and families from examination to the echocardiography room and back after completion of the study.
  • Explains procedures to patients and families prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
  • Maintains proper operation of ultrasound equipment, recognize equipment malfunctions, and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensures specific echo machine probes are clean and ready to use at any time. Other duties as assigned.
  • Assesses sonographic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Acquires and documents patient’s clinical history, including weight, height, blood pressure, and O2 SAT.
  • Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Demonstrates a friendly environment providing comfort to patients based on age-specific needs.
  • Calls physician if unable to obtain images, patient agitation, or serious findings. 
  • Helps with appropriate accreditation, including filling out forms, formal review of echo with physician’s evaluation, and quality assurance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of cardiac ultrasound. [Required]
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. [Required]
• Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment. [Required]
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. [Required]
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. [Required]
• Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required]
• Ability to perform Pediatric Sonography, including complex studies. [Required]
• Computer and word processing skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. [Required]
• Effective oral and written communication skills across a variety of education levels. [Required]
• Ability to maintain a professional attitude, conduct, and composure under pressure. [Required]
• Ability to perform concomitant assignments in a timely manner and accommodate rapidly changing priorities. [Required]
• Ability to perform fetal echocardiography [Preferred]

Education:

• Associate’s [Required]

Field of Study:

• In Diagnositic Medial Sonography

• Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited sonography program [Required]

Work Experience:

• 2+ years experience in pediatric echocardiography [Preferred]

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echocardiography (RDCS-AE) [Required] OR

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS-PE) [Required] OR

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) [Required] OR

• Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) [Required]
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS-FE) [Preferred]
• Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
