Job Description:
- AH Mission and Culture – Establishment and alignment of medical and professional staff with AH Mission, Vision, Values and Service Standards.
- Advance the clinical strategy, fostering consistent clinical quality and patient safety across the region.
- Lead service line medical directors in the development of clinical design and strategy across the region, as well as the oversight of continuous quality improvement through physician-led service line governance.
- Partnered with the Regional Chief Nursing Officer, develop a regional quality improvement infrastructure defined by data transparency, high reliability and a culture of safety. This infrastructure will support hospital, ambulatory and service line quality improvement and performance.
- Represent campus CMO interests and practice concerns in collaboration with Regional, Divisional, and Corporate clinical leaders.
- Articulate clinical strategy and align regional initiatives with the AdventHealth vision.
- Promote consistency of clinical practice across the region, ensuring physicians partner in care redesign and clinical integration activities supporting improved clinical outcomes and reducing unwarranted variation in clinical practice.
- Establish and maintain mechanisms for sharing division and corporate clinical best practices across the region.
- Engage in the evaluation and recommendation of technology to support and enhance the delivery of patient care and management decision-making in collaboration with corporate and division partners.
- Assess existing and potential systems for effectiveness and efficiency and formulate recommendations for improvement.
- Participate in recruitment and onboarding including advocating for diversity within our workforce reflecting the surrounding community.
- Represent Region to the external market, as well as building community relationships.
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance for the facility’s patient and workforce safety, ensuring clear goals, effective governance structures, and leadership accountability.
- Foster and sustain a facility-wide culture of safety that emphasizes psychological safety, continuous learning from harm and near-miss events, and meaningful engagement of patients, families, and the workforce.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A strong record of clinical practice excellence. [Required]
- Excellent physician communication and relationship skills and the ability to work collegially with medical professionals, other healthcare providers, peers and executives in partnership toward common objectives. [Required]
- A demonstrated focus on and commitment to patient safety and clinical quality initiatives. [Required]
Education:
- Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree. [Required]
- Master’s degree [Preferred]
Work Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in hospital medical staff organizational leadership as a Chief of Staff, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Executive Committee member, Committee Chairman, Service Line Leader, or other senior physician leadership position in a similar-sized hospital or health system. A strong record of clinical practice excellence. [Required]
- Demonstrated experience in building effective teams and an ability to delegate, lead, mentor, and develop professionals. [Required]
- Demonstrated experience in developing and recruiting a diverse group of next generation clinicians and physician leaders. [Required]
- Experience with information technology implementation. [Required]
Additional Information:
- The Chief Medical Officer has direct leadership responsibility for the Regional senior leaders and respective teams in Medical Staff Services, Quality and other departments as assigned. In addition, and in collaboration with the Regional CNO, this role has oversight and accountability for clinical quality and excellence for all RMR entities.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current, or ability to gain an unrestricted medical license in the state of Colorado. [Required]
- Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in respective specialty. [Required]
