Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect nursing care to identified age-specific patient populations while participating in a structured nurse residency or orientation program. This position utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while developing clinical competence under the direction of a designated preceptor. The Graduate Nurse works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, quality, patient-centered care and successfully transition to independent nursing practice. This role supports AdventHealth's commitment to excellence in patient care, regulatory compliance, professional development, and outstanding customer service.
Essential Functions

Provides direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a preceptor and within the scope of licensure and organizational policies.

Applies knowledge and skills related to diagnoses, procedures, medications, equipment, and potential complications associated with the assigned patient population.

Completes comprehensive patient assessments including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle considerations.

Recognizes actual and potential patient problems and develops appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment findings.

Establishes measurable patient care goals and develops individualized plans of care.

Implements nursing interventions and evaluates patient responses to treatment and care plans.

Performs ongoing reassessment of patients and modifies plans of care based on patient condition and outcomes.

Assesses and interprets diagnostic data, laboratory results, monitoring information, and interdisciplinary documentation.

Administers medications and treatments in accordance with organizational policies and medication safety standards.

Maintains compliance with infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborates with team members to coordinate patient care.

Provides patient and family education appropriate to the patient's level of understanding.

Promotes an exceptional patient experience through compassionate care, effective communication, and hourly rounding practices.

Demonstrates accountability for professional growth through participation in required education, training, competency validation, and residency program activities.

Participates in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice activities, and departmental projects.

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure in the applicable state required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Participation in a designated nurse residency, fellowship, orientation, or training program is required. Successful completion of all orientation, competency, and educational requirements is expected prior to transition to independent practice.

$32.83 – $61.05
