Job Description:
Shift: Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm
- Demonstrates and practices proper radiation safety measures to protect self, employees, visitors, and physicians.
- Assists with ordering and stocking procedure rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring proper function and cost-effective use.
- Assists physicians during procedures by prepping and draping patients, passing instruments, and monitoring vital signs.
- Maintains the integrity and sterility of equipment and supplies throughout procedures.
- Recognizes and communicates any changes in patient condition to the physician during procedures.
- Documents accurate and pertinent data concerning the patient’s condition during procedures and reports to the appropriate person.
- Demonstrates knowledge of drugs commonly used in the department for special procedures.
- Provides safe and effective patient care by identifying and addressing the total needs of patients.
- Ensures proper procedures and precautions are followed to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients.
- Monitors patients transported to the department for routine procedures to maintain continuity of care.
- Transports patients and ensures proper handoffs between departments and units, providing maximum privacy during procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrate outstanding clinical skills within the scope of duties defined by the respective license.
- Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
- Computer proficiency.
- Unit specific competency must be met per orientation pathways.
- Knowledge of EKG training and arrhythmia interpretation.
- Up-to-date knowledge of vascular-related organ anatomy.
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry.
- Ability to monitor patient blood pressure, ECG, and Pulse Oximetry using sophisticated clinical equipment.
- General knowledge of the pharmacological process and the appropriate administration or delivery of medications used in the care and treatment of Radiology patients.
- Skill to maintain effective working relationships with health professionals and others to create an environment that is conducive to carrying out the mission of the department in an effective manner.
- Skill to communicate (verbal and written) effectively to direct the overall professional nursing services in a manner which encourages the open exchange of ideas and information.
Education:
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Work Experience:
- 1+ acute care nursing experience [Required]
- 1+ radiology nursing experience [Preferred]
- Must have EKG knowledge
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
- Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
