Job Description:

The Vice President, Chief Data and Insights Officer leads AdventHealth’s enterprise data and insights strategy, helping turn trusted information into better decisions, stronger operations, and better outcomes for patients, team members, and our communities.

As a faith-based health care organization committed to whole-person care, AdventHealth depends on information that people can trust, understand, and use. This executive leads a large, multidisciplinary enterprise organization responsible for the data and analytical capabilities that make that possible, including enterprise data platforms and engineering, data architecture, data products, governance, advanced analytics, decision science, and the shared organizational context that enables responsible use of AI.

The Chief Data and Insights Officer is accountable for building an enterprise data foundation that is highly reliable, resilient, and consistently available to the people, applications, analytics teams, and AI capabilities that depend on it. At the same time, this leader will help evolve AdventHealth from an environment heavily dependent on recurring reporting and dashboards toward one where trusted information is easier to access, insights are generated more rapidly, and analytics talent is increasingly focused on interpretation, decision support, operational change, and measurable outcomes.

This executive leads through senior leaders and establishes the enterprise standards, shared capabilities, decision rights, and operating model that connect corporate, divisional, regional, and functional data and analytics teams. The role is accountable for defining and evolving this federated model so AdventHealth can benefit from enterprise scale while preserving the expertise and accountability closest to the work.

The Chief Data and Insights Officer works closely with the Chief AI Officer, Head of Engineering, clinical and business leaders, and analytics teams across AdventHealth to ensure AI-enabled insights and workflows are grounded in trusted data, appropriate analytical methods, clear organizational context, and established decision rights.

Success is measured by trusted information, better decisions, sustained adoption, and demonstrable improvements in care, experience, productivity, and financial stewardship.

  • Establish clear, accountable ownership for AdventHealth’s most critical enterprise data and data products.
  • Improve the reliability, availability, quality, and usability of priority data across clinical, operational, financial, workforce, and consumer domains.
  • Establish common measures and shared semantic context where conflicting definitions limit trust or enterprise decision-making.
  • Accelerate the shift from recurring reporting toward rapid insight, interpretation, and operational action, demonstrating measurable results in selected clinical and operational priorities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set enterprise direction for data and intelligence. Develop and lead AdventHealth’s enterprise data and insights strategy. Translate organizational priorities into a clear operating model, architecture, investment plan, talent strategy, standards, and roadmap with defined accountabilities and measurable outcomes.
  • Build an ultra-reliable enterprise data foundation. Lead the strategy, architecture, engineering, and operation of enterprise data platforms and products. Establish clear expectations for reliability, availability, quality, freshness, lineage, performance, and access so trusted information is consistently available to the teams and technologies that depend on it.
  • Create shared meaning and trust. Establish accountable ownership for critical data and lead the development of common definitions, measures, semantic context, metadata, organizational relationships, and business rules. Resolve conflicting enterprise measures and strengthen the ability of people, applications, analytics, and AI capabilities to interpret information consistently.
  • Accelerate insight and decision-making. Advance analytics and decision science capabilities that help leaders and teams move more quickly from information to understanding and action. Reduce unnecessary manual reporting and reconciliation, expand reusable analytical capabilities, and enable analytics teams to spend more time interpreting evidence, influencing decisions, and supporting operational improvement.
  • Define and evolve the federated operating model. Establish enterprise standards, shared capabilities, service expectations, decision rights, and clear accountability across corporate, divisional, regional, and functional analytics teams. Preserve domain expertise and local partnership while creating greater consistency, reuse, transparency, and enterprise scale.
  • Enable AI-powered insights and workflows. Partner across AI, Engineering, clinical, operational, and technology teams to ensure AI-enabled experiences and workflows are supported by trusted enterprise data, clear semantic context, appropriate analytical methods, and established governance. Create the data and analytical capabilities needed to move responsibly from insight to action.
  • Strengthen governance while enabling responsible use. Lead enterprise data governance with domain owners and the Data Enablement Council. Establish practical standards for ownership, quality, metadata, lineage, access, sharing, retention, and permitted use. Partner with Privacy, Cybersecurity, Legal, Compliance, and clinical governance leaders to protect trust while making information easier to use responsibly.
  • Build and lead an enterprise-scale organization. Lead through senior leaders and develop a multidisciplinary organization with the capabilities needed for the future. Establish clear accountability, build leadership depth and succession, attract and retain strong talent, and evolve roles and skills as automation and AI change how data and analytics work is performed.
  • Demonstrate enterprise value and steward resources responsibly. Prioritize investments based on strategic importance, expected outcomes, risk, adoption, and total cost. Measure reliability, adoption, reuse, decision effectiveness, productivity, and realized benefits. Manage assigned budgets, vendors, contracts, applications, and services with operational and financial discipline.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Leadership Expectations

  • Inspiration: Create a meaningful and achievable vision for how trusted information can help AdventHealth deliver on its mission and care for people more fully. Help leaders and teams understand their role in building that future and why the work matters.
  • Intentionality: Turn vision into clear choices about priorities, investments, organizational design, talent, standards, and sequencing. Establish accountability through leaders, surface risks early, learn from evidence, and adapt as the organization and technology evolve.
  • Influence: Build trust and shared commitment across organizational boundaries. Align leaders and teams around common outcomes, navigate competing priorities, clarify ownership, and create progress through strong relationships, sound judgment, and credible delivery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead enterprise data, analytics, and intelligence transformation across a large, complex organization, translating strategy into sustained organizational capability and measurable outcomes. [Required]
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a large, multidisciplinary organization through senior leaders, with strength in organizational design, leadership development, succession planning, performance management, and talent strategy. [Required]
  • Strong understanding of health care operations, clinical workflows, financial performance, workforce needs, consumer experience, and how trusted information can improve decisions and outcomes. [Required]
  • Executive-level understanding of modern data architecture, engineering, data products, governance, analytics, decision science, semantic technologies, and AI-ready data capabilities, with the judgment to guide senior technical and functional leaders as technologies evolve. [Required]
  • Ability to establish common definitions, measures, organizational context, business rules, ownership, and decision rights that can be consistently understood by people, analytical systems, applications, and AI-enabled capabilities. [Required]
  • Ability to evaluate analytical evidence, distinguish signal from uncertainty, and ensure insights and recommendations are supported by appropriate methods, context, traceability, and safeguards. [Required]
  • Ability to build alignment across functions, regions, operating entities, and distributed teams, balancing enterprise standards with domain expertise and local accountability. [Required]
  • Strong portfolio, financial, vendor, communication, and change leadership skills, with the executive presence and judgment to build trust across clinical, operational, technical, and senior leadership audiences. [Required]

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, computer science, a quantitative discipline, or a related field. [Required]
  • Graduate degree in a relevant discipline. [Preferred]

Work Experience:

  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in data, analytics, technology, digital capabilities, or related enterprise functions. [Required]
  • Five or more years in senior leadership with responsibility for large, multidisciplinary organizations, including leadership through other senior leaders. [Required]
  • Experience establishing or transforming an enterprise data and intelligence strategy, operating model, organization, and technology ecosystem with measurable adoption and business outcomes. [Required]
