  • Frequently Asked Questions

    To qualify, you must be a recent graduate from an accredited nursing program with less than one year of nursing experience. You must have your RN license in hand by the designated deadline for the assigned start date.

    Yes. The RN license is only required by the time of licensure deadline for your assigned start date.

    This depends on the needs of the organization and how many new grads can be supported.

    This also depends on unit needs and the number of new grads the department feels they can support. It is different for every cohort. The list of units that typically take new grads will be listed within the application.

    We recommend that you apply within your last semester of nursing school.

    The program provides participants with:

    • Hands-on experience with clinical simulation and clinical immersions​
    • Dedicated support with a residency coordinator working in conjunction with the unit-based educator​
    • Collaboration and relationship building with other newly-licensed nurses
    • The opportunity to deliver an evidence-based practice presentation at program conclusion

    The program delivers:

    Our Program includes methods recommended by many of the country’s most respected nursing organizations, including IOM, JC and ANA.

    The program provides immersive simulation or clinically facilitated role-play-based learning with didactic components. We also feature web-based learning modules as well as:

    • Two types of sim/role play – task or skills and clinical immersion (scenario-based)
    • Immediate targeted and constructive feedback following each role play
    • A safe, non-threatening environment where it is permissible to make mistakes
    • Small group collaboration
    • Ability to observe facilitators/leaders demonstrate tasks/skills, enabling participants to be comfortable and confident trying new approaches
    • Clinical time on the unit starting in the third week of the program

    The Program includes two phases over a year to best prepare a newly-licensed nurse for their career. It is a full-time paid position with benefits starting day one.

    • Phase 1: Clinical Orientation – 9-24 weeks, varying by specialty
      –Weekly experience and preceptor expectation guide
    • Phase 2: Nine months
      –Monthly professional development workshops including career mapping, evidence-based practice and mentoring

    Med/Surg, Med/Tele, PCU, ICU, ED, Peds, Neonatal, Obstetrics, Behavioral Health, Surgical Services, etc.*

    *May change based on location and availability.

    The schedule may include overnights, weekends and holidays.

    This is a full-time position. Residents typically work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week. Full-time employment with full-time benefits from day one.
