Job Description:

• Performs other duties as assigned. Administers medications accurately and appropriately, including PO, SQ, IV, IV PUSH, IVPB, IM, SL, PR, topical, and intradermal.
• Provides education to patients and families about medical and nursing care, medications, tests, procedures, and discharge instructions.
• Responds to and participates in emergency situations, utilizing BLS and ACLS protocols.
• Assists physicians with bedside procedures and ensures proper implementation of EMS and nursing actions.
• Maintains a professional rapport with physicians, patients, and families, utilizing age-appropriate communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes. [Required]

• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs. [Required]

Education:

• Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]

Work Experience:

• 3+ hospital experience/ 1 year ems experience. internship and/or preceptorship [Required]

• Dependent upon nursing/ems experience. unit specific competency must be met per orientation pathways. the majority of employees will require a minimum of 12 months after orientation completed to achieve proficiency. [Required]
