Job Description:

  • Serve as the Magnet® Program Director for Bolingbrook and GlenOaks Hospitals.
  • Lead planning, execution, and oversight of Magnet designation or redesignation activities for both hospitals, ensuring alignment and consistency while honoring campus-specific strengths.
  • Act as the primary liaison with ANCC, including application submission, written documentation, interim reports, and site visit preparation.
  • Nursing Excellence & Professional Practice

  • Advance Magnet domains: Transformational Leadership, Structural Empowerment, Exemplary Professional Practice, New Knowledge/Innovation, and Empirical Outcomes.
  • Partner with nursing leadership to strengthen shared governance, professional development, nursing research, and evidence-based practice.
  • Support collaboration with academic partners, including UChicago Medicine, to advance clinical excellence and professional practice models.
  • Outcomes, Data & Documentation

  • Oversee collection, validation, analysis, and presentation of nursing-sensitive indicators and quality outcomes for both hospitals.
  • Ensure development of high-quality Magnet narratives, exemplars, and supporting evidence.
  • Collaborate with quality, analytics, and performance improvement teams to demonstrate sustained outcomes.
  • Education, Engagement & Culture

  • Educate leaders, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on Magnet standards and expectations.
  • Build and sustain a culture of nursing excellence, professional accountability, and engagement across both campuses.
  • Lead staff readiness activities for Magnet site visits, including communication, coaching, and education.
  • Governance & Collaboration

  • Facilitate Magnet Steering Committees, councils, and workgroups at Bolingbrook and Glenoaks.
  • Collaborate with system nursing leadership to ensure alignment with enterprise nursing strategy and best practices.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Education, Quality, Research, and Medical Staff leadership to support Magnet goals.
  • Continuous Readiness & Compliance

  • Monitor changes in ANCC Magnet standards and translate requirements into operational practice.
  • Ensure ongoing readiness, compliance, and sustainment between Magnet cycles.

Required

  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) or related field
  • Current, unrestricted Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • 2 + nursing leadership experience with 1 – 2 years of Magnet involvement.
  • Demonstrated experience with Magnet® designation or redesignation activities
  • Strong knowledge of Magnet standards, nursing-sensitive indicators, and professional practice frameworks

Preferred

  • Doctorate in Nursing (DNP or PhD) or related field
  • Prior experience serving as a Magnet Program Director or Magnet lead
  • Experience in multi-campus or system-based healthcare organizations
  • Experience within an academic–community health system

  • Primary work location split between Bolingbrook and GlenOaks Hospitals
  • Ability to travel between campuses as needed
  • Occasional travel for ANCC-related meetings or conferences

Licenses and Certifications:
• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]• Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
