Job Description:
- Assumes 24-hour on-call responsibility for timely response to organ donor referrals and import organ offers for local transplant centers.
- Provides family support and requests authorization for organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
- Ensures organs from donors meet CMS, CDC, and OPTN safety standards, including performing required infectious disease tests and accurately labeling and transcribing test results.
- Directs hospital physicians and nurses in donor evaluation and management according to policies, collaborating with the Medical Director as needed.
- Communicates with team leaders, directors, and medical directors to ensure decisions aim to obtain all possible transplantable organs and tissues.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills [Required]Ability to work flexible extended hours providing 24-hour call coverage [Required]

Education:
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Field of Study:
- Position requires one of the following: RN, PA, Respiratory Therapist (RT), EMT-B, EMT-P, foreign medical graduate or previous experience as an OPC
Work Experience:
- 3+ recent experience in donor management and organ allocation with a cms certified opo [Preferred]
- Extensive critical care experience [Preferred]
- Public speaking experience [Preferred]
- Teaching / Precepting experience [Preferred]
- Trauma Center experience [Preferred]
