Job Description:

• Assumes 24-hour on-call responsibility for timely response to organ donor referrals and import organ offers for local transplant centers.
• Provides family support and requests authorization for organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
• Ensures organs from donors meet CMS, CDC, and OPTN safety standards, including performing required infectious disease tests and accurately labeling and transcribing test results.
• Directs hospital physicians and nurses in donor evaluation and management according to policies, collaborating with the Medical Director as needed.
• Communicates with team leaders, directors, and medical directors to ensure decisions aim to obtain all possible transplantable organs and tissues.

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• Position requires one of the following: RN, PA, Respiratory Therapist (RT), EMT-B, EMT-P, foreign medical graduate or previous experience as an OPC

Work Experience:

• 3+ recent experience in donor management and organ allocation with a cms certified opo [Preferred]
• Extensive critical care experience [Preferred]
• Public speaking experience [Preferred]
• Teaching / Precepting experience [Preferred]
• Trauma Center experience [Preferred]
