Job Description:
Acts as a subject matter expert in managing benefit documents, workflows, and employee inquiries related to employee benefits, including group health plans, ancillary plans, continuation of coverage, and retirement plans. Provides guidance on benefit plan information to employees and dependents, including new hire enrollment, open enrollment, continuation of coverage information, evidence of insurability applications, death claims, and government-required notices and compliance documents. Maintains a broad knowledge of company policies, benefit plan documents, and legal and regulatory updates related to employee benefits and group health and welfare plans. Applies documented procedures, policies, and other reference materials to accurately resolve employee inquiries, utilizing sound judgment and making appropriate determinations where details are not available or ambiguous. Liaises and maintains appropriate relationships with benefit vendor account managers, corporate Benefits team members, internal Shared Services, and HRIS teams. Ensures compliance with HIPAA, maintaining employee privacy, including confidentiality and protection of sensitive information. Generates reports for facility business partners related to benefits and monitors scheduled reports for data auditing. Liaises with Benefits Specialists and third-party vendors to ensure timely processing of death claims, disability claims, and EOI approvals/denials. Stays abreast of call trends and reports facility or company-wide issues to management; makes recommendations to improve service quality. Collects, maintains, and reports on all benefits team goals and metrics. Participates in Annual Enrollment planning to provide end user and specialist expertise to Corporate Benefits team. Tracks, investigates, updates, and closes cases within the case management tool; answers phone calls and responds to emails within established service-level agreement timelines. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge and understanding of AHS benefits administration, including applicable state and federal regulations surrounding FMLA, HIPAA, PPACA (ACA), ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations [Required]• Ability to analyze research and analyze data and make sound decisions [Required]• Ability to deal with ambiguity and manage change [Required]• Skilled in understanding and applying applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to group health insurance and retirement benefits [Required]• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing [Required]• Skilled in providing quality customer service, including the ability to listen and understand information being presented, as well as the ability to deescalate issues and resolve complaints with “win-win” solutions whenever possible [Required]• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with a diverse group of people to meet goals and objectives [Required]• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, delegate and oversee multiple projects while adhering to service-level agreements and other tight deadlines [Required]• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, including Outlook and Excel [Required]
Education:
• Bachelor’s [Preferred]• Bachelor’s [Required]
Field of Study:
• in Human Resources, Business or Health Administration, or a relevant field, or the equivalent in education and/or related experience
• in Human Resources, Business or Health Administration, or a relevant field
Work Experience:
• 5+ experience in support of employer-sponsored group health and welfare programs in a human resources team environment [Required]• Experience in a large employer setting with complex and varied benefit programs and policies [Preferred]• Human Capital Management (HCM) experience, specifically PeopleSoft [Preferred]
