Job Description:
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Performs statistical analyses and economic modeling using appropriate software to assess economic impact of operational decisions and clinical impact.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary internal departments to develop and implement health economic strategies to support business objectives.
• Provides external communication of analyses in the form of abstracts, posters, podium presentations and manuscripts. Has a record of peer-reviewed journal publications.
• Assists in the drafting, editing and delivery of medical communication in a timely manner.
• Stays updated on new techniques and software related to health economics analyses.
• Develops and builds health economic models including cost-effectiveness, cost-utility and budget impact including various projects assigned by director.
• Performs statistical analyses of outcomes data including meta-analysis, mixed treatment comparison and survival analyses. Performs data manipulations and develops algorithms on multi-data sets that create the analytic files necessary to support future analyses.
• Provides high-quality, innovative, timely, scientific/strategic solutions to meet research objectives.
• Writes select grant proposals and leads awarded studies of high complexity in a timeline-driven manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of the U.S. health care system, including Medicare and/or Medicaid [Required]• Strong analytical, qualitative and quantitative abilities [Required]• Problem-solving skills and detail oriented [Required]• Effective written and verbal communication of problems and results [Required]• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team [Required]• Self-motivated and interested in data-driven health policy analysis [Required]• Strong commitment to professional development [Required]• Excellent scientific writing skills [Required]• Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills with both leaders and front-line staff [Required]• Ability to adhere to and meet project timelines through efficient time and resource planning [Required]• Availability for occasional travel, evening and weekend work [Required]• Deep understanding of retrospective and prospective observational study designs and related methodology [Required]• Solid grounding in understanding the incidence, prevalence, risk factors, natural history course, comorbidities, treatment patterns and clinical outcome measures of disease [Required]• Experience in applied economics demonstrated by conducting analyses of health care claims, medical records and enrollment data [Required]• Experience with complex studies [Required]• Experience writing successful scientific protocols [Required]• Experience with statistics and programming with statistical packages (such as SAS or SPSS). Record of peer-reviewed journal publications [Required]• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. [Required]
Education:
• Doctorate [Required]
Field of Study:
• PhD in Economics, Public Health, Health Policy, Public Policy, Statistics or other relevant field.
Work Experience:
• 3+ experience in health economics research, health services research or epidemiology research [Required]
