Job Description:

• Processes financial assistance applications and resolves hospital accounts through charity, Medicaid, county/state programs, credit programs, and payment solutions.
• Reviews documentation and account disposition activities within required timeframes for Finance Committee review.
• Conducts financial assessments for uninsured and underinsured patients professionally and respectfully.
• Establishes payment arrangements, collects deposits, and coordinates payment schedules.
• Meets upfront collection goals and supports accounts from pre-registration through discharge.
• Reviews census reports and work queues to identify patients needing financial intervention.
• Maintains knowledge of Medicaid, Share of Cost, government assistance, charitable resources, contracts, specialty packages, and reimbursement agreements.
• Serves as liaison among patients, families, providers, agencies, foundations, and hospital departments.
• Estimates procedure costs and prepares payment agreements, contracts, and provider payments.
• Reconciles accounts with physician offices and processes refunds or additional collections.
• Collaborates with Pre-Access, Patient Access, Case Management, Reimbursement, HIM, Coding, Rehab, and Patient Financial Services.
• Maintains accurate financial documentation, adjustments, scanning, and audit support while protecting HIPAA compliance.
• Works at assigned facilities, completes required training, and stays current on regulatory and operational changes.
• Adheres to AdventHealth policies, compliance standards, and other assigned duties, including passing Epic training within the first 30 days.
• Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly reports as assigned in a timely and productive manner to determine if intervention is needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to serve as liaison for patients and families in the absence of a patient representative [Required]
• Ability to use discretion when discussing confidential personnel or patient-related matters [Required]
• Ability to respond effectively to changing hospital and operational needs [Required]
• Working knowledge of Revenue Cycle operations and departmental workflows including Patient Access, PreAccess, HIM, Coding, Charge Capture, Case Management, and Patient Financial Services [Required]
• Self-motivated, analytical thinker with strong research and problem-solving skills [Required]
• Professional verbal and written communication skills [Required]
• Proficiency in basic math functions [Required]
• Typing skills of at least 20–27 words per minute [Required]
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook [Required]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Associates degree [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• in accounting, finance or related field

Work Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in Patient Access, Patient Financial Services, finance, collections, coding, customer service, insurance reimbursement, medical office operations, or contract management [Required]

Pay Range:

$21.40 – $34.24
