Job Description:
- Schedules and conducts retrospective medical record reviews.
- Provides written reports of service area findings monthly to leadership and staff.
- Ensures accuracy in data collection, data entry, and data analysis related to medical record review and donor potential.
- Acts as a resource for the medical record review process, data collection, and data interpretation.
- Provides initial orientation to the review process and ongoing communication and training with staff.
- Collects, analyzes, maintains, and reports review summaries from individual hospitals within established timelines.
- Ensures compliance with OPO regulatory requirements. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with hospital health information management and information technology staff.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient and donor/recipient information.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of Quality Improvement Indicators, OPO, and donor hospital regulatory requirements.
- Performs other data report building or related duties as required. Attends and participates in key annual events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to evaluate processes utilizing a systematic approach [Required]
- Ability to ensure quality and accuracy of hospital-specific and service area-wide data reports [Required]
- Knowledge of medical terminology [Required]
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system [Required]
- Excellent communication skills and detail oriented [Required]
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and familiarity with Windows operating systems [Required]
- Typing/word processing skills [Required]
- Comfort with utilizing software programs [Required]
- Previous history of data management [Required]
- Advanced Excel report building[Preferred]
- Knowledge of ICD / MSDRG Codes [Preferred]
- Knowledge of healthcare coding [Preferred]
Education:
- Associate [Required]
- Bachelor's [Preferred]
Field of Study:
- Nursing, Engineering, Business or Healthcare-related field
Work Experience:
- 2+ in a hospital setting [Preferred]
- Experience with multiple EMR systems, i.e. Epic, Cerner, Horizon, Sovera, Sunrise, McKesson [Preferred]
- Previous OPO experience; especially in the performance of Medical Record Reviews [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) [Preferred]
