Job Description Summary:

Supports the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in improving clinical outcomes, overseeing performance improvement initiatives, risk management, continuing medical education, medical staff office functions, and medical school/residency program affiliations. The ACMO acts as a physician advisor to case management and as a liaison to promote appropriate resource utilization by the medical staff. The role focuses on enhancing patient care, supporting medical staff, and optimizing operational efficiency.

Job Description:

• Lead the adoption of evidence-based medicine and related protocols among the medical staff.

• Provide clinical and physician perspective in senior leadership discussions, including business growth, service expansion, and strategic planning.

• Serve as a clinical leader, guiding case management, appropriate patient care levels, resource utilization, and compliance with laws and organizational policies.

• Use performance improvement metrics to implement practices that enhance clinical quality and improve publicly reported outcomes.

• Collaborate with medical staff and departments to identify cost-effective solutions for medical equipment and services.

• Support appropriate clinical documentation and assist case management to ensure accurate reimbursement and minimize payer denials.

• Facilitate and oversee relationships with medical schools and residency programs.

• Maintain and enhance medical knowledge through ongoing education and professional development.

• Represent the organization externally and build community relationships.

• Lead physician recruitment and retention efforts.

• Oversee medical staff office functions, including credentialing and privileging processes.

• Complete annual reviews of executive contracts as required.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong medical background with knowledge of managed healthcare systems, quality assurance, quality improvement, and risk management. [Required]

• Experience in leading case management, disease management, or population health programs. [Required]

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. [Required]

• Strategic vision and business acumen. [Required]

• Ability to conceptualize key trends and respond to changing market demands. [Required]

• Systems thinking and the ability to break down objectives into actionable steps. [Required]

Education:

• Doctorate [Required]

Field of Study:

• In Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine

Work Experience:

• 6+ experience in professional, post-residency direct patient care [Required]

• 3+ leadership experience within a medium to large integrated health system [Required]

Additional Information:

• Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in respective specialty

Licenses and Certifications:

• Medical Doctor (MD) [Required] OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) [Required]

• Basic Life Support (BLS) [Preferred]
