Job Description:

Ensures compliance with billing regulations and HIPAA standards. Participates in audits to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate billing. Develops and updates policies and procedures based on changes in billing regulations. Provides exceptional customer service to patients and insurance payers. Other duties as assigned. Educates staff on billing procedures and compliance requirements. Coordinates with revenue cycle departments to address and resolve any issues delaying reimbursement. Submits claims accurately and promptly to insurance payers. Follows up regularly on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely resolution. Reviews and resolves rejected or denied claims, resubmitting as necessary. Communicates with insurance payers to obtain necessary information for accurate billing. Analyzes accounts receivable reports to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement. Documents all billing activities, follow-ups, and communications in detail.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Uses discretion when discussing personnel/patient related issues that are confidential in nature. Is responsive to ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and acts accordingly. Typing skills equal to 27 words per minute net. Proficiency in performance of basic math functions. Communicates professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. Possess strong analytical and research skills. [Required]

Education:
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study:
• or GED equivalent.

Work Experience:
• 3+ work experience in patient accounting, customer service, or collections related area (registration, finance, collections, customer service, medical coding, contract management). [Required]• 4+ college degree in health services administration, business administration or finance. [Preferred]
