Unit Highlights:
CVICU is a fast pace, high acuity unit where your critical thinking skills are utilized every day. We are a 34 bed ICU. We specialize in cardiac surgery recovery from Open Heart Surgery, CABG, Valves, TAVRs, Heart/ Lung Transplants, Cardiovascular Repairs, ECMO, L-Vads and the Total Artificial Heart. Each ANM has a team of nurses they connect with routinely to ensure their success. We have over 20 specialty skills, an intense education program and a staff full of talented nurses!
High Level Collaboration - We have an Excellent Team of Cardio Thoracic Surgeons. We work closely with all of them every day as the operating room is positioned next to the unit. We average from 5 to 14 cases a day. Fast responses and meticulous care is given to all our patients as we progress them from the OR table to transferring to our step-down units. Our Grand Rounds by the Unit Director is often used as a clinical education time and ensures all our patients are progressing. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1, depending on acuity. The role you'll contribute:
The Nurse Manager (NM) is a registered professional nurse who plays a pivotal role in impacting the care and services that patients and families receive throughout their hospital experience. Directly accountable to the Director of Nursing (DON) or Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the NM oversees the continuous operation of a specified nursing unit. Demonstrating critical thinking, creativity, and resource management, the NM achieves quality performance, fosters positive employee relations, and ensures compliance with hospital guidelines. The NM excels in coaching, motivating, mentoring, and leading both professional and technical teams to deliver exceptional services to our patient population. By assuring quality care and demonstrating efficient use of resources, the NM upholds the highest standards of healthcare delivery.
As a change agent, the NM is responsible for implementing necessary changes within the assigned areas, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. The role requires active participation in outstanding customer service, fostering respectful and equally valued relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other stakeholders. The NM collaborates across all levels of nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and executive and physician leaders to enhance patient and family experiences, advocate for patient safety, and contribute to the professional development of the nursing staff. The position encourages a learning environment that is open, respectful, and promotes the sharing of expertise.
Adhering to the highest professional standards, the NM is knowledgeable of and complies with the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, the ANA Scope and Standard for Nursing Practice, as well as the rules and regulations of all applicable accrediting bodies. The NM's leadership extends beyond the confines of the nursing unit, contributing to the broader goals of the healthcare organization and ensuring a seamless, quality driven patient care experience.
