Job Description:
Coordinates the administrative functions related to the credentialing and privileging process for physicians and allied health professionals. Provides administrative support to Medical Staff leaders, departments, and committees. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of credentialing documentation. Maintains credentialing databases and processes applications for initial appointment and reappointment. Collaborates with various departments to facilitate the credentialing process and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Utilizes independent judgment and initiative to complete projects. Reviews and screens initial credentialing applications for completeness. Conducts research and verification of licensure, education, training, past employment, affiliations, sanctions, and criminal history for initial applications. Verifies applicant data using primary source verification. Reviews reappointment applications for completeness and ensures the Medical Staff reappointment process is comprehensive and well-organized within the mandated 2-year timeframe. Researches all adverse actions and malpractice claims. Reviews provider activity data against privilege criteria to ensure qualification and competency for requested delineation of privileges. Monitors files to ensure completeness and accuracy, reviewing all documentation for compliance with quality standards, accreditation requirements, and relevant policies. Maintains credentialing database accurately and keeps updated information on all office interactions and correspondence. Disseminates file information strictly following Medical Staff Bylaws, Policy Manual, and accrediting/certifying standards. Manages all activities of the Medical Staff Credentials & Governance Management Committee. Works effectively with the Committee to maintain current credentialing procedures and approval processes. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and database management
• Knowledge of clinical/medical terminology
Education:
• Associate [Required]
• Bachelor’s [Preferred]
Field of Study:
• in Medical Services Management
Work Experience:
• 2+ years credentialing/medical staff related experience [Preferred]
Additional Information:
• An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the stated degree requirement:- Associates degree and 0+ years of experience OR
– High School Grad or Equivalent and 2+ years of credentialing/medical staff related experience
Licenses and Certifications:
• Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)[Preferred]
• Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM)[Preferred]
